Looking to stay inspired with strings through the summer months? Here’s an opportunity designed for students with 0 to 4 years of experience on their instrument (violin, viola, cello, bass). The West Virginia Youth Symphony will offer a one-week strings camp at the former Mountaineer Montessori campus, 308 20th St. SE, Charleston, WV 25304. The main focus of Strings Camp will be small group
instruction and small ensemble practice. In addition, there will be group classes,
outdoor free time and lunch (bag lunch from home required). Strict supervision will
be provided by our staff and counselors.

WHEN: 8:30AM to 3PM for each day June 20-24

A typical camp day for your student will consist o f a 1/2 hour lesson from one of our professional teachers, two 40-minute group chamber sessions, and a follow-up 1/2 hour “guided practice” session with one of our counselors. There will also be a daily class session, covering topics like good posture, practice techniques, music theory, plus a lot of fun games. On the final day there will be a performance recital showcase of the week’s accomplishments.

REQUIREMENTS: Students must have their own instruments, accessories (shoulder pads and rosin), and bag lunch. All music and teaching materials will be provided on the first day of camp. Please address any further question about camp logistics to
