WVYS Strings Camp 2024

June 17–21, 2024

Looking to stay inspired with strings through the summer months? Here’s an opportunity designed for students with 0 to 4 years of experience on their instrument (violin, viola, cello, bass). The West Virginia Youth Symphony will offer a one-week strings camp at the Mountaineer Montessori campus, 308 20th St. SE, Charleston, WV 25304. This year’s Strings Camp will feature small group instruction, small ensemble practice and afternoon string orchestra. In addition, there will be music-related classes, arts and crafts, outdoor free-time and lunch (bag lunch from home required). Strict supervision will be provided by our staff and counselors.

WHEN: 8:30AM to 3PM for each day June 17-21

In a typical camp day for your student, the morning will consist of 4 half-hour blocks, including small group lesson, singing and elective (choices TBD). 

After lunch and free time, there will be chamber ensemble and orchestra practice.

There will also be a daily class session, covering topics like good posture, practice techniques, music theory, plus a lot of fun games.

On the final day there will be a performance recital showcase of the week’s accomplishments.

REQUIREMENTS: Students must have their own instruments, accessories (shoulder pads and rosin), and bag lunch. All music and teaching materials will be provided on the first day of camp. Please address any further questions about camp to klsholstein@gmail.com.
